HOW LONG DOES A 45kg BOTTLE LAST?
The amount of gas used will depend on the type of appliances in your household, how often the appliances are used, and the number of people in your household.
If used only for cooking it can last more than a year.
If it is used for cooking and hot water for a family of four, the bottle should last for a couple of months.
You can extend the lifespan of your bottle by avoiding long showers and turning off the heat pump or heaters when not needed.
Having two bottles on-site allows an easy swap over when one is empty and time to order a replacement bottle. This way you will never run out of gas.
MANUAL CHANGEOVER SWITCH VALVES
Your gas supply will stop when a gas bottle is empty. You will need to:
-
Turn the hand wheel on the empty gas bottle OFF (clockwise)
-
Then move the changeover valve lever point (pictured in blue) towards the other (full) gas bottle
-
Turn the hand wheel on the full gas bottle ON (anti-clockwise)
-
Please remember to order a replacement gas bottle so you don’t run out
-
Please note that, in the picture shown, the lever (blue) is pointing upwards just to make it more visible. In actual use it would be set to the left or right.
CHECKING YOUR GAS BOTTLE LEVEL
Finding out how much gas is left in a gas bottle is easy.
Here’s how it’s done.
-
Fill a bucket with hot tap water
-
Slowly pour the hot water (not boiling water) down one side of the gas bottle
-
A line of condensation may appear indicating the gas level. If not:
-
Wait a few moments, then feel the side of the gas bottle where you poured the warm water
-
You should feel a noticeable cooler change of temperature at the level of the gas
-
If you feel no difference, the gas bottle may be empty
Checking gas bottle levels regularly will let you stay on top of your usage for your cooktop and gas heaters and know when it is time to check levels and re-order.
SWAP 'N' GO - 8.5KG
-
Empty bottles must be within the 10-year service date which is stamped on the bottle
-
If you do not have a bottle to exchange these can also be purchased from us
-
Recently a small change has been made to the connection valve of these bottles to further improve safety. This new valve will look a little different but don’t worry, it still functions with existing BBQs and outdoor heaters just as easily as before
